What is a Low Vision Exam?
Low vision eye exams with an IALVS doctor are different from normal comprehensive eye exams. The primary objective of a low vision exam is to determine the best way to help you live the life you want to live despite your visual limitations.
Our low vision specialists will have an in-depth discussion with you about the kinds of things you’d like to be able to do with your remaining vision, and find the best way to make those things possible.
Low vision exams usually take about one hour, and can help us find the most effective ways for you to maintain your day-to-day independence for activities such as driving, writing, reading, watching television and spending meaningful time with friends and family.
Based on your exam, we may recommend prescription low vision glasses or other low vision aids or devices to help you accomplish your goals.
