Dr. Oliver Mullins, Low Vision Optometrist

Dr. Oliver Mullins, a distinguished optometrist, became a part of the Eyecare Associates of Nampa team in February 2019. Born and raised in The Dalles, Oregon, Dr. Mullins has lived in several states throughout his life. His journey includes three years at Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo, New Mexico, where he served as an active-duty optometric physician.

Dr. Mullins attended Brigham Young University-Idaho, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science. It was also there that he met his wife, and together they fell in love with the great state of Idaho. He then pursued his professional education at Pacific University College of Optometry, earning his Doctor of Optometry degree with distinction in 2014.

Dr. Mullins is one of the only optometrists in Idaho specializing in Low Vision Rehabilitation, helping patients with vision loss regain independence and improve their quality of life. Using specialized optical devices and personalized care, he assists individuals with conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other vision impairments in making the most of their remaining sight. His passion for helping those with low vision ensures that patients receive compassionate, expert care tailored to their unique needs.

Beyond his work in low vision, Dr. Mullins has extensive training in glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, dry eye, and other ocular diseases. He also has extensive experience in contact lenses and co-managing ocular surgeries. What Dr. Mullins loves most about eye care is helping people see the world more clearly. He finds it particularly rewarding when he can assist someone with their first pair of glasses, enabling them to see clearly for the first time.

Outside of work, Dr. Mullins enjoys exploring local businesses and eateries. His favorite restaurant in Nampa is JP Thailand Express, where he relishes the great curry and Pad Thai. He also enjoys taking his kids to Jeremy’s Downtown Arcade for some family fun.
