Dr. Arielle Angel was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. While in school, she discovered her passion for low vision care and served as President of the Low Vision and Rehabilitation Club. She was the recipient of the Eschenbach 2023 Student Award for Excellence in Low Vision.
After graduation, Dr. Angel relocated to New Mexico, providing comprehensive eye care to its residents. In October of 2025, Dr. Angel had the privilege of acquiring Low Vision of New Mexico from Dr. Dulce Walker upon her retirement. Dr. Walker built a trusted practice devoted to empowering patients with low vision, and Dr. Angel is honored to continue the legacy she established. Dr. Angel is committed to ensuring that individuals throughout and adjacent to New Mexico continue to receive specialized support and innovative solutions that Dr. Walker so passionately provided.
As a low vision optometrist, Dr. Angel provides functional vision assessments and evaluates low vision devices tailored to each patient’s needs. She strives to provide compassionate, patient-centered care and is dedicated to helping individuals with visual impairments improve their comfort, independence, and quality of life.
Dr. Angel completed intensive low vision training through the Schuldiner Low Vision Training Institute (SLVTI) and is a member of the International Academy of Low Vision Specialists (IALVS), the American Optometric Association (AOA), and the New Mexico Optometric Association (NMOA).
Outside the clinic, Dr. Angel enjoys traveling and spending time with her fiancé, Drew. She also loves puzzles, cross-stitching, and bird watching. During football season, she proudly cheers for the Texas Longhorns. And when it comes to the classic New Mexico question–red or green?–her answer is always “Christmas.”
