Auria Collell Cortacans, Low Vision Optometrist

Auria Collell Cortacans is a CORU-registered Optometrist, a member of Optometry Ireland, and a Fellow of the International Association of Low Vision Specialists. She is also the founder of The Low Vision Clinic.

She graduated in Optics and Optometry from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in 2015 and completed a Master’s Degree in Clinical Optometry at the same institution in 2017. Since then, her professional journey has spanned a range of international settings, with clinical experience in Barcelona, Nairobi, and Dublin, giving her a broad and well-rounded perspective on patient care and optometric practice.

Now based in Dublin, which she has called home for the past seven years, Auria works as a part-time clinical optometrist at Blackrock Clinic and in an independent practice in Blackrock, Co. Dublin. Across these settings, she is recognized for her thoughtful, meticulous approach and her commitment to delivering care of the highest standard.

Auria has a particular passion for low vision care, shaped both by professional dedication and personal experience. Having seen the impact of sight loss within her own family, she understands how important functional vision is to maintaining independence, confidence, and quality of life. This insight informs the way she supports her patients — with empathy, compassion, and a deeply individualized approach.

Through her work, Auria is committed to helping people make the most of their remaining vision, reduce the risk of social withdrawal and its associate challenges, and stay active, connected, and confident in everyday life.
