Dr. Long received a Bachelor’s and Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University. He did advanced residency training at a New York Veteran’s hospital and during his residency received comprehensive Low Vision Certification via training at the Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

In 1997, Dr. Long and his wife, Angela Long, O.D., opened Long Family Eye Care in Bloomington, Indiana to practice general optometry and for Dr. Long to develop his low vision specialty. Dr. Long has lectured extensively on low vision and has been on staff at the I.U. School of Optometry and proctored students for general and low vision examinations.

In 2006, after training with renowned Low Vision Diplomat, Richard Shuldiner, O.D., F.A.A.O., Dr. Long formed Midwest Low Vision. He is now recognized as one of a select few Fellows in the International Academy of Low Vision Specialists. You can now schedule to see him in one of multiple satellite offices throughout Indiana.

As a member of the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce and a regular contributor to local causes, Dr. Long supports the growth of the community. He and his wife have two daughters, Emily and Madelyn, and two small dogs at home. The family enjoys music, movies, kayaking, and traveling.
